Top Boy: Netflix announces season 3 with Drake attached as executive producer

After some encouragement from Top Boy superfan Drake, Netflix has announced that it is working on a new season of the British drama.

The new 10-part season will premiere in 2019 and pick up where the original show left off, with Ashley Walters and Kane Robinson (Kano) reprising their roles as Dushane and Sully.

Their characters - two drug dealers returned to London from exile - will team up again and attempt to dominate the trade.

The news was announced by Netflix via its social media accounts.

The first two seasons were broadcast on Channel 4 and are currently both available to view on Netflix. The last season ended in 2013.

Also attached to the new season are Top Boy's original creative team: Charles Steel, Alasdair Flind, Ronan Bennett and Yann Demange.

Bennett, who wrote the first two seasons and is signed up to write the third, said he was delighted with the planned revival.

Drake and his business partner Adel Future' Nur have signed on to executive produce with Maverick Carter and Jamal Henderson.

Drake posted a photo of the "team that made it happen" on his Instagram following the announcement.
